Ozzano dell'Emilia

Ozzano dell'Emilia

Ozzano dell’Emilia is located a few kilometers from Bologna, nestled between the Via Emilia and the hills of the Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell’Abbadessa Regional Park.

In ancient times the Roman settlement of Claterna was set: some remains of the ancient settlement have been brought to light and many finds of considerable interest preserved in the Museum of Claterna, located in the Palazzo della Cultura.

Ozzano is the starting point of the Via Flaminia Minor, a hiking route that, keeping to the ridge between the Idice and Sillaro streams, leads from the outskirts of Bologna to Tuscany.

Along the route, a short distance from the village, is the small church of Sant’Andrea, which holds the remains of Blessed Lucia da Settefonti, a Camaldolese nun who lived in the 12th century and was the protagonist of many popular legends of the area, which gives its name to the Parco dei Gessi e Calanchi dell’Abbadessa.

From the locality of Ciagnano, which can be reached via a short detour from the Via Flaminia Minor route, there is a striking view of the gullies.
